New Study shows that Chemical Exposure makes some male babies more 'feminine'
Guess what!? If you're exposed to certain chemicals while pregnant, your baby boy could become a sissy! The horror! You could be raising a boy who wishes he could wear cashmere based on the level of phalates you're exposed to while pregnant.
A new study raises the idea that there's a link between pregnant women's exposure to common chemicals called phthalates and the type of toys their male children prefer to play with when they reach preschool age. Boys with the highest exposures to phthalates were slightly more likely to play with dolls and toys that our lame society considers more appropriate for girls, the study found...
Shanna H. Swan, a University of Rochester professor of obstetrics and gynecology and environmental medicine who consucted the experiment, said it's clear that "these common chemicals have the ability to alter the development of the male fetus."
A chemical industry group, however, defended the chemicals and questioned the study. Because they want to keep making and selling chemicals.
Phthalates are manmade chemicals that soften plastics and are found in a tons of products, including baby toys, shower curtains and floor coverings, Swan said. People appear to be most exposed to them through food, she said, in part because items such as milk travel through plastic tubing. According to Swan, they reduce testosterone levels in rodents, and she suspects they may do the same thing to fetuses in the womb. Previous research she conducted suggested that high levels disrupt the development of male genitals to a small extent.
In the study, published online Nov. 16 in the International Journal of Andrology, researchers analyzed phthalate levels in the urine of pregnant mothers and then followed up with their children when they reached preschool age.
The boys whose mothers had the highest levels of phthalates in their urine while they were in the womb had masculinity "scores" that were 8 percent lower than those whose mothers had the lowest levels, the study reports.
So, if you're a sissy boy and your mom is a bitch who wishes you were more manly, just read her this article, start throwing things, and let her know it's all her fault. Make her take it to the grave.

Good one.
Good one.
I appreciate the satirical
I appreciate the satirical take in the post, but these chemicals are a big problem, and not for the "sissy boy" situation.
Phthalates have been shown to affect fetuses. Rats exposed to such chemicals have a greater chance of birthing few males in a litter. The chemicals act as pseudo-estrogens and may affect the development of male offspring.
Additionally, the chemicals might be to blame for the drop in sperm counts that seems to be occurring world wide.
Not only men are affected by these chemicals. It's been suggested that young girls are entering puberty earlier than normal because of the presences of phthalates in our foods (Bovine growth hormone may be another culprit). This contamination is due to the plastics used to wrap and store food items.
Yes, the study mentioned above is rather silly. But these chemicals are a real danger. Just wanted to toss that in.
I was warned about chemicals
I was warned about chemicals in plastic water bottles last night, and how they are related to the chemicals used to make Agent Orange. Apparently, quantities of these chemicals are realeased from plastic bottles into the water they contain, and then into our bodies.
This friend then gave me a stainless steel water thermos, for which I am grateful.
