"' Corn.'- Vicky, Children of the Corn"
Mr. July: Corin Nemec
Corin Nemec: You might remember him from his more recent roles in the sci-fi horror movie Mansquito or his turn as mass murderer Richard Speck in The Chicago Massacre (or not); but you’ve probably been impressed by him as the sexy Jonas Quinn on the Sci-Fi Channel’s series Stargate: SG1. However, there may even be those of you who loved him first as Parker Lewis on the eaaaarly 1990’s TV series Parker Lewis Can’t Lose – in which Corin played Parker, sort of a cross between Ferris Bueller and Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell. Corin’s latest movie is Bundy: A Legacy of Evil, released by Barnholtz Entertainment and Lionsgate on DVD July 21, in which he tackles the role of serial killer Ted Bundy, renowned for his charm and good looks with which he lured dozens of women to a grisly death. Corin stopped by Pretty Scary to do his best Bundy impression, discuss beating up Mark Paul Gosselar, and how he likes to stalk women. And be our Mr. July. Enjoy Corin...

Hunky pic
What can a woman expect on a date with Corin?
Generally speaking, I don’t like ‘normal dates’. I prefer to let her go out, and then I stalk her. Or, she’ll be on a date, and I’ll be following her the entire time – watching her eat, spying on her, sitting in a different row in the movie theater, things like that.
That’s very romantic!
Especially later on when I pull up in the van and jump out and throw her in the back.

Corin being totally lame in the way that only '1991' can. From the show 'Parker Lewis Can't Lose'
Parker Lewis can’t lose because:
a) He is too scared to try
b) He cheats
c) He isn’t real
All of the above.

Corin as 'Jonas Quinn' on 'Stargate: SG1', worried about how much dilithium crystals they need to run the flux capacitor, or whether the Prime Directive has been broken, or something.
I’d like to address Stargate SG1. Why was Jonas Quinn the best character ever?
He’s totally awesome and likes to eat Earth Food. All they eat on his home planet Langara are garden snails. They’re not even really snails; they’re just really slime balls.
I was only on the show a season and a quarter. But The reaction from the fans is tremendous, and is still. People continue to be huge fans of the character. I think he’s quirky and innocent, his naiveté, not being from Earth. And also his desire to excel and be a working member of a group.

Still worried.
If I came back on the show now I think he’d need to be homeless and insane. Full Jesus beard and a penchant for wine. Really really cheap wine, like Lancers. Nighttrain. Boonesfarm is too high end.
Who would you rather fight in a boxing ring: Mark Paul Gosselar, Rick Schroeder, or Sean Patrick Flanery?
I would have to go for Gosselar, because Rick has an edge to him that I don’t want to screw with. And Sean Patrick, you know, he was Indiana Jones. I can’t fight one of my heroes growing up. And Gosselar, saved by the bell, right? Yeah well that’s what he’d have to be saved by: The bell.

Pensive, hardcore 'Corin'.
What’s the sexiest thing a woman has ever done for you?
Sat up all night texting, next to me while I slept. Very sexy. True story. /sarcasm

Corin showing up at your house for a date.
Tell me all about you as Ted Bundy.
The difference between my portrayal of Bundy and everybody else’s is that we had 130,000 dollars and 11 days to make our movie. The director, Mike Pfeiffer, is a miracle worker in that he has the ability to take a jar of pennies and turn it into something that looks like a roll of hundreds. We literally had a week of prep time. For me, anyway, a week or less than a week to read the script learn the lines, rehearse as much as possible, and be onset. Literally, like, 5 days.

Corin is very sensitive - he gets upset at the littlest thing.
That being said, I just YouTubed him and watched a few moments of his when he was doing his shtick, his Bundy shtick, so got a couple mannerisms and stuff like that and did some background research on him and read a little about him, and in the script itself was well written in terms of actually going into his past and what his childhood was like.
We came to realize that there’s a strong chance that Ted Bundy was actually the son of his oldest sister, but through incest with her Father. So that was what we were pushing for, this idea that he was a product of incest.

Corin burying your bleeding, dying body in a shallow grave. Just kidding, these are from 'Bundy'.
I just kind of took some of those ideas and made it an underlying thing. But I can vaguely remember Mark Harmon’s version in the early 90’s – I think there’s only one other one.
You also have the sci-fi movie Sea Beast out right now.
Oh God.

Corin starring in the made for TV movie 'Born to Make Love: The Heath Ledger Story'. Just kidding. Rare shot of Corin in 'Sea Beast'
But Sea Beast is the latest one in the Maneater DVD series and you’re in it!
It was fun playing the the hard luck fisherman. It was fun! The fact that the genre is "the genre" is beside the point for me when I approach the job. I just consider, who is the character, who is this guy, what is he going through. And that’s exactly what I did. I believed in it as much as is humanly possible given the context of the script and just go for it, and the rest I have to give up to the CGI department. It is rare that CGI ever turns out as good as the rest of the movie... that’s just the nature of the beast, I suppose, no pun intended.
It was better than SS Doomtroopers, though.
I had a friend who called it SS Doombloopers. I’d be like, ‘that’s not funny man, I’m in this thing!’

Corin working on 'SS Doomtroopers'
You have worked with David Faustino from Married With Children fame a lot over the years – you guys are good friends and even shot the comedy series Star-ving together. You also just worked with him on the horror film The Boston Strangler in which he stars as Albert de Salvo and you’re Stuart Whitmore.
My role was relatively small in comparison to David's, and again that budget was quite similar to Bundy and Chicago Massacre - we had 12 days on that one at about 150,000, something like that. All these films are under 200,000 dollars. Its amazing that Feiffer can pull these off. I know that David really enjoyed that opportunity. ‘Cause it is rare that David especially gets a chance to do dramatic work.

Corin let his acne scars show through for the role of Richard Speck in 'Chicago Massacre'. Corin usually wears up to 3 layers of pancake makeup to hide his horrible scars from days of youthful meth addiction when he would pick at his face for hours on end.
You were a crazed, demented killer in Chicago Massacre also. What do you like playing more: The ‘good’ guy or the ‘bad’ guy?
I don’t have a preference, I just like the opportunity to perform and be involved in a project. I love everything about the film business, from acting, to being behind the scenes to directing.

As someone afraid of sharks in 'Raging Sharks'
So, you’re attached to the upcoming horror films The Dark Between The Stars, and you just completed House of Bones. Pimp that.
Dark Between The Stars not up and running yet. It was a year ago, and then some of the funding fell out. The producer is still actively trying to raise the money for that.
House of Bones is a project that I did with a producer who I worked with on other films like, Raging Sharks. He brought me on to do that.
It’s about a group of ghost hunters on a reality TV show who get stuck in a haunted house, and anytime anyone tries to leave the house they get killed, so they have to try to figure out how to leave the house without dying.
My character is the host of the show who never leaves the studio. The ratings are down so they force me to fly to the actual location and do on-location stuff… and that’s how I end up getting killed. It’s more of a cameo role.

Pullout poster of a young Corin from the 1990 'Teen Beat' magazine July issue. This poster has been hanging on my wall ever since. Is that weird?
Bonus extra Credit:
How many times did you make the cover of Tiger Beat Magazine? (not to be confused with Teen Beat.)
Or Super Teen or Bop, or Big Bopper. I honestly have no idea.
I’m making up that the answer is 7. And it will go on the Internet and people will believe it.
Do you have any last words for women who can’t wait to watch Bundy and imagine you killing them?
If there are waiting to get their hands on Bundy and are imagining me killing them, they all need to seek some psychiatric help, which is what Bundy should have done.
But if there is a fandom out there of the feminine that enjoys the work that I have done, I just have to say that I really appreciate it and will live up to their expectations of the future, whether they be Bundy roles or the Good Guy in the next one.

I can't believe it!
I had the hugest crush on Corin as a young lass when he was in Parker Lewis... I can't believe he is so involved in horror now. I have to track down some of his films. Thanks for bringing him back to my attention, hilarious!
