Lis Fies' 'The Commune', Shannon Hile's 'The Intervention': Horror at La Femme Film Fest

Elisabeth Fies's The Commune and Shannon Hile's The Intervention are two feature horror films at the La Femme Film Festival in Los Angeles, California Oct 15-18, 2009. They'll be joining the short thriller rePlay by Michaelin McDermott.

The Commune follows a teenager's unwilling descent into the insanity of her father's New Age commune, which culminates in terror. The Intervention is about a family seeking to rid their belowved Tom from his alcoholism, not knowing that he has far worse demons, literally, to get rid of first. Shannon's film

Hey, Shannon emailed me and was super cool. Her feature film INTERVENTION is Friday at 4 pm. Sort of a tricky time slot what with the work week and all, so I'm totally going. Hope some Pretty/Scary's can come support a female filmmaker since that's what it's all about (clap clap).

I also got an email from filmmaker Sally Helppie whose supernatural feature, THE BEACON, is screening Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Renberg. Looking forward to meeting her, too.

Look at all these women getting all uppity and making horror features!! Rad!!

I'm at the Renberg theater at 4 pm Saturday with THE COMMUNE. Bring your rotten tomatoes, you can throw 'em in person luvs! :)

Thank you for the info!!!! La

Thank you for the info!!!! La femme didn't have descriptions/directors of anything listed, so I would never have known about The Beacon! And thanks for the info about Simone - that's a new one to add to my list!!!!
