Does anyone else watch this? It's the Discovery Channel's post-apocalyptic reality show, sort of a cross between Mad Max and Big Brother or Survivor.

10 ordinary people (most of whom have advanced degrees) are put in an abandoned warehouse in a cordoned off section of LA and told that a viral outbreak has resulted most of earth's population dying and with the resultant collapse of civilization, they're on their own to survive.

They have to fight off other survivors, scavenge for food, build stuff out of discarded junk, etc. The only thing the show is missing to make it any better are zombies.

"a viral outbreak has resulted most of earth's population dying"

This show sounds like heavy-handed predictive programming.

They don't promote it at all. I only found out about it last week when they ran 5-6 episodes back to back to back. And there's no one with a British accent, though they did have a trader show up unexpectedly (with a truck and manned machine gun mounted to the top of it) who had some sort of generic foreign accent.

In the one episode where they were forraging for food, they fabricated a fishing net and caught a fairly large fish out of the LA river, then took it back to the warehouse ate it. In another, they salvaged solar panels from a nearby building and hooked it up to an array of car batteries and an inverter to produce electricity. In another, they made a water filtration system out of charcoal, sand, and an old cooler.

Awesome. I took their test to check my chance of survival and it said I was a "Savvy Surbanite".

That test would be easy to cheat on though. Laughing out loud
