Alison Lohman ('Drag Me to Hell') - not a horror fan (and not that bright)

Its soooo depressing when you see a great movie with a seemingly smart lead actress who is funny and great in the film, and she turns out to be basically mentally retarded when you see her interviewed or get to interview her (Jessica Alba, cough cough).

In this video (courtesy of Universal) of an interview with Alison Lohman, star of Drag Me To Hell, Alison talks about Sam's 'directing style' and she basically knows nothing about him or anything he's ever done, and admits her 'comedy' was unintentional. Sigh. OH! She also just sounds really really stupid. Can her agent/manager, whoever you are, please get her 'interview lessons'? Do they have those? Watch the video below...

Holy crap - so much about my

Holy crap - so much about my comment about 'brilliant comedic timing' in my review, lol!

I did enjoy her in the film!

Firstly, Tristan, I had that

Firstly, Tristan, I had that exact same icon for awhile on a BB. Love evil maria! Rawr!

and now, it is sad, Heidi, I agree. I found this in another interview by Alison. It was pretty much the next to last question. Her answer is what is bothersome and revealing:

Q: What do you look for in a project?

Alison: I don’t really look for anything. I don’t come with any preconceived ideas. I just read it. If there is a good director or actors attached, there are reasons why they’re attached to it. I don’t really think I’ve found any new piece where I’ve been like, “This is a diamond in the rough.” I just don’t have that creative aspect to me. I just like to act , and I don’t mind just being an actor.

She doesn't even give any critical thought to a role--what it represents, or if she can she find herself in it, does it intrigue her, or that she found the script progressive, transgressive, intelligent, funny...no. She can't say any of that, can she? And of course you can just further examine just that one paragraph and come to your own conclusion on what else bugs me.

The interview snippet is from iesb.net in case you want to know.

I feel like, in light of this

I feel like, in light of this stuff she's saying, that anytime she appears good on camera a LOT of it is due to the direction she's getting, and not her own personal choices as an actor.

I know that in Drag Me To Hell, I really thought she was doing some great comedic stuff - but apparently she didn't even know it was going to be funny!

Oy.

That is mildly depressing, however doesn't change the fact I still am pretty damn impressed with that film as well as her acting. Makes her a really good actor, she had me fooled.

Glad I'm not the only one who

Glad I'm not the only one who thought she comes across as less than intelligent in her interviews. The one in Fango was short, but she managed to ruin that too.

Did great in the film though! My theory on actors/models/athletes; they're not paid to be smart.
