Deneen Melody ('Master's Devils', 'Dark Hallways')

-Interview by Nic Brown-

The saying goes "Don't mess with Texas!" and although she may be based out of Chicago now, you'd still be well advised not to mess with native Texan Deneen Melody! She's played everything from an assassin to one of the devil's daughters. This former ballerina-turned-horror actress is not just an actress; she's also a model who's learning to do her own stunt work! Now Deneen is taking a break from learning how to fight on screen to talk with Pretty Scary about her new projects, why she gave up ballet, and why some people may call her a nerd (but not to her face, remember she's learning to fight!)...

The Saw franchise has been going strong now for six films. Every Halloween since 2004 the killer Jigsaw has returned to play his games with hapless victims. Now actress, model and musician Jon Mack is ready to play as she joins the series in Saw VI. Of course there is more going on in this multitalented performer's world than just solving Jigsaw's puzzles; she's got two new films coming out on the SyFy channel and her band, Auradrone, is shaking things up musically with their album Whitelite Britelite. Now Jon takes some time out of her film and music career to talk about some her new projects, how she feels the internet has changed things in the music business, and why you may find her down at the gun range choosing between her Glock and a shotgun!

Lola Wallace ('The Trek', 'Legend of the Sandsquatch')

Lola on the set of her film 'The Trek'Interview by Nic Brown

On the last day of the 2008 B Movie Celebration a new independent film had its world premiere. The Writer/Director of The Trek, Lola Wallace, was anxious about how the near capacity crowd in the Johnson County History Museum’s auditorium would react to her new movie. Almost from the start it was apparent that there was something different about this film. The basic story is one that has been told before of hikers in the woods running into trouble, but there is more to The Trek than just that and the audience could tell...

Amber Benson ('Death's Daughter', 'Drones', 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer')

Interview by Nic Brown

It is easy for an actress to become stereotyped into one sort of role. This can be especially true when the actress in question is best known for her role in show with a cult following as strong as Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But actress Amber Benson who played Tara Maclay, a fan favorite and part of one of the first openly gay couples on mainstream television, is no ordinary actress. In fact, just calling her an actress is selling her talents short. While still working on Buffy, Amber wrote and directed her first feature film: Chance. She hasn’t limited herself to film and television either. Amber has also co-written the Ghosts of Albion series as well as a number of graphic novels with writer Chris Golden and she’s just released her first solo novel Death’s Daughter...

Susan Adriensen ('Under the Raven's Wing', 'The Blood Shed')

By Nic Brown

Independent filmmaker and actress Susan Adriensen had a surprising air of calm about her as she waited for the screening of her film Under the Raven's Wing to start on the first night of the Fright Night Film Festival. "I hope the film plays well here." Adriensen comments casually just before show time. "This isn't a gore-fest, or anything like that; it's more psychological."...

Nicola Fiore ('Terror at Blood Fart Lake')

Interview by Nic Brown

Finding one title to describe Italian-American beauty Nicola Fiore is a tough job. She’s been a model for Sears, and Tromette of the month for Troma Pictures, been a bass guitarist for a hard core band, a projectionist in a movie theater and now works as an actress and filmmaker. Nicola is as comfortable behind the camera as she is in front of it and prides herself on helping bring order to the chaos found on most movie sets. She's worled with legendary Scream Queen Debbie Rochon on the film For Christ’s Sake as well another dozen or so independent horror films including the memorably titled Terror At Blood Fart Lake. Now Nicola Fiore is talking to Pretty/Scary about filmmaking, why she’s happy to be back in New York and why filmmakers Ivan Zuccon and Timo Rose need to read this interview...

Tucky Williams of ('Dead Moon Rising' I & II)

Tucky WilliamsInterview by Nic Brown

A tall, sexy, blonde with a sword in her hands leaps into the midst of a mass of zombies approaching a small group of survivors. The survivors watch open-mouthed as she proceeds to dispatch the creatures almost effortlessly with the weapon. When she seems to grow tired of that sport she simply drops a stick of dynamite into the horde blowing them to bits and ending the threat, for the moment. All in a days work for Vix, the bad-assed-beauty in Mark Poole’s indy-zombie-epic: Dead Moon Rising. However, as interesting as the character Vix may be, Tucky Williams, the actress behind the sword wielding heroine is even more intriguing...

Axelle photographed by Rebecca WachtelInterview by Nic Brown

Axelle Carolyn is having an interesting life. When she’s not busy covering the horror industry as a journalist for IGN.com, Fangoria or SFX magazine, you’ll probably find her on a movie set. On screen she’s been a punk, a plague victim, and had her face chopped off, just to mention a few of her memorable on screen moments. Axelle has also worked behind the camera, helping to create some of the memorable special effects make-up used in Doomsday. Not one for sitting still long, Axelle has been hard at work on her next film role in The Descent 2 She’s also writing a book on horror films made in the new millennium. Amid all of this, Axelle found her soul-mate, horror writer/director Neil Marshall, and they were married in 2007. Now Axelle is taking some time out of her hectic schedule to talk with writer Nic Brown about some of her new projects, her marriage to Neil, and why Halloween is her favorite holiday, even though no one in her native Belgium knows what it is...
