Zombies do have more fun! The Living Dead Girlz, a zombie dance troupe based in San Francisco, are about to embark on a frenzy of eating Brains and dancing harder than the thriller video – all over the US of A! Get ready folks, it's the Living Dead Girlz Zombie Nation Tour. The LDG created the genre "dance splatter theater" by incorporating complex choreography created to display a moral story within their shows. With their tongue 'n cheek attitude, the LDG specialize in commercial jazz infused with hip hop, sock hop, cha cha, chair-dancing, tango and waltz."We are a parody of the entertainment industry's use of young women to sell products," says Amber Steele, the Director/Choreographer of the troupe. "Our approach to the zombie culture is reminiscent of Romero's metaphoric references to capitalism."
The Zombie Nation Tour will consist of free zombie marches, a show featuring the LDG with local acts, and a signing of the very first Living Dead Girlz comic book. The limited edition comic will illuminate the story of how the Living Dead Girlz joined forces during a zombie outbreak.
"The Zombie March and the LDG Comic Book are geared towards the younger generation, those who can't be present at the shows, but it's the demographic we want to infect the most," says Shannon Lark, Fangoria's current Spooksmodel and Manager/Special FX Artist for the troupe. "We want to show that as a female performer, you don't have to be trashy to be sexy."
The tour, which is managed by The Chainsaw Mafia, will be infesting several cities in the latter of 2008. NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, Wichita, and San Francisco are among the list. Zombie lovers can go to www.thechainsawmafia.com/livingdeadgirlz.html and www.livingdeadgirlz.com to find out more about the tour as dates and venues are TBA.
